RECESS is a regularly scheduled, respite program that supports any family that is taking care of a child who’s been through tough experiences like foster care, domestic violence, abuse, or neglect. Originally developed as a resource for Foster Families, RECESS has expanded to serve foster, guardian, grand, bio, and relative- caregiver families. The program is designed to be self-care resource for families so they can expand their circle of support. Families that are a part of RECESS get a couple hours of childcare each week so that parents/ caregivers can have time for themselves and rest. Parenting is tough work and parents need a little break to continue to be a safe and loving caregiver to the kids who depend them the most.
